Meat-free Mondays. Even if you're not vegetarian then going meat-free for one day of the week will really help the planet. The Vegetarian Sweet-Tooths support meat-free Mondays.

Myfitnesspal is a completely free and packed database of (British and American) food and their nutritional content. I used this to lose some weight for my wedding along with the iphone app. Lots of support and inspirational stories in the community sections as well.

I use Calorie Count to easily work out the calorie content of my home made meals. Under food/recipes/new recipe you can enter all the ingredients of a recipe at once and the number of servings and it will calculate the nutritional information per portion for you. You will need an account to use this feature.
